Hello Rich,Excepted the left camera of the Rover have not shooted this light source, so Artefact hypothesis "rules".Righ Camera : http://mars.jpl.nasa.gov/msl/multimedia/raw/?rawid=NRB_449790582EDR_F0310000NCAM00262M_&s=589Left Camera (nada) : http://mars.jpl.nasa.gov/msl/multimedia/raw/?rawid=NLB_449790582EDR_F0310000NCAM00262M_&s=589Regards,Gilles.

But Gilles....This from ABC News:http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/life-mars-explain-mars-rover-picture/story?id=23242163RR

Yes, and the only part that really matters from that ABC News piece is what appears first:"What appear as glints of light on new photos from NASA's Mars Curiosity rover probably are just a reflection, a glare on a lens or a technical error"The only change I would make is to substitute "almost certainly" for "probably." But then fewer people would go ga-ga over that, I suppose, which would be bad for business. Hence the sensationalism - fodder for the hoi polloi.PK

What the heck fellows...Nothing about the great movie, Rocketship X-M, which confirms the Cydonia hypothesis, and Mac Tonnies' ideas about Mars and the alleged monuments, recently covered by Nick Redfern in a Mysterious Universe piece?RR
Hello,In fact there are two pictures, one from the 3 April, the other the 2 April. Each 2 times, the other camera (left one) have NOT shooted the light despite the 2 cameras are in "synchronicity". It seems to be at the same hours (afternoon with the sun in the relative same position N/NW the Rover, Sol 588 : 2014-04-02 09:04:28 UTCSol 589 : 2014-04-03 10:00:03 UTC, as the geographical dataes seems very closed between the two shoots, then the relative same "source" ?).Difficult to summerize and in English the "curse" between the different hypothesis at play (artefact aka glicht or cosmic ray OR some sunlight glinting from rock surface - one cam captures the other not cause paralaxes as there are other ones). Many people are making triangulations etc in different locations. You will find English links in our forum ( http://ufo-scepticisme.forumactif.com/t4607-photos-video-mars-une-lumiere-mysterieuse-photographiee-par-le-robot-curiosity ).Only to say that I'm not "sure" (as amateur of course, not a JPL NASA expert) it is an artefact like Cosmic Rays or glitch because the common denominators between the two shoots, like Steve pointed. Maybe it is a sunlight glinting from the relative same rock surface one... I have not "decided" between the different hypotheses at my humble level! That's very interesting to follow anyway ;)Amitiés,Gilles.

AOK, RR! -...please allow me to offer some mere mid-course correction to your journey into the schlockverse...'Rocketship X-M' was released quickly on June 2, 1950.the more reasoned, accurate and creative, and written by old Bob Heinlein 'Destination Moon' was released on June 27, 1950.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Destination_Moon_%28film%29....the closest Analog to your 'X-M' is of course:'Have Rocket will Travel':http://www.veoh.com/watch/v20027255aE7AgE25?h1=Three+Stooges+-+1959+-+Have+Rocket+Will+Travel+Part+1
